Koh Tao Party Hostels (Plus PUB CRAWL!)

Although Koh Tao is associated mainly with diving and less with parties than its neighbouring island which boasts crazy full, half and quarter moon parties – Koh Phangan we‘re looking at you – we’re here to let you know that Koh Tao also offers a great bar scene that can’t be rivalled. This author actually preferred partying in Koh Tao to Koh Phangan thanks to its more chilled vibes and of course the legendary Koh Tao Pub Crawl!!!! Here’s our list of the top Koh Tao party hostels to ensure your trip is filled with endless fun.

5 Best Party Hostels On Koh Tao

1. Goodtime Beach Hostel

Want to have a good time and stay near the beach?? That’s right, Goodtime Beach Hostel does exactly what it says on the tin. The staff are welcoming and friendly, the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. It’s super easy to make friends here – just go and hang out in the common room and you’ll find some chill travellers to chat to. The hostel is located beside the Rock Bar which is a great place to get some drinks. The downside is that the loud music aimed to keep people rocking will keep you awake if you plan on an early night. The solution?? Don’t have an early night!!

2. Koh Tao Central Hostel

Koh Tao Central Hostel, which is one of the best value for money options in the island, is conveniently located in Mae Head beside the beach and piers. It’s only 10 minutes’ walk from Sairee Beach – as we’ve already said a great place to party. There’s no common area but guests can get all the good traveler vibes by heading to Reef Bar which is just across the road!!

3. Taco Shack Hostel 2

Taco Shack Hostel 2 has its own bar and restaurant where it’s super easy to meet other travelers. Don’t be surprised if you get caught up in drinking games before the night starts!!!! They make some great cocktails too and the meals are delicious. The rooms are nice, large and clean. The staff in the hostel are super friendly and will go out of their way to help you with anything you need. The place is only ten minutes walk to all the nightlife going on at Sairee Beach.

4. SpicyTao Backpackers

OK we’ll be the first to admit it, the facilities at SpicyTao aren’t the best. But you’ll find on the backpacker trail in Thailand that the better the party the less luxurious the hostel. In its defense, with dorm beds prices from as little as 230baht it’s one of the cheapest on the island so if you’re looking to save a bit of money then it’s the perfect place to go. You’ll definitely meets loads of other likeminded travellers. They have a cool common area, nice hammocks and also serve cheap alcohol. For the real backpacker experience stay at SpicyTao.

5. Moov Inn Garden Hostel

Located in Mae Haad within walking distance of many bars, Moov Inn Garden Hostel is a beautifully decorated hostel a 5 minute walk from the beach. They have an awesome restaurant and bar and usually have parties every night of the week. The rooftop is also a great place to watch magnificent sunsets while drinking a beer. Baby Rasta Bar which is located across the street is an awesome place to hang out and watch some live sessions.

BONUS PARTYING: The Koh Tao Pub Crawl

A night in Koh Tao can be amazing fun if you know where to go. If you don’t want to take the risk of ending up in the less lively bars then join one of Thailand’s best pub crawls – the Koh Tao Pub Crawl – which takes place every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday starting at 6pm in the one and only Choppers Bar.

It’s always packed and a great way to make new friends and dance your way around the island! 450 baht will get you a t shirt, free shots and a free bucket. Then you’ll be dancing the night away….and jumping in swimming pools before you know it!

I don’t think you’ll meet a single backpacker on Koh Tao (or in Thailand!!) that hasn’t signed up for this mad night out. You won’t regret it…or will you?! Despite my Koh Tao horror story, I still love this island more than all the others. Need more info? Check out their FB page! Most hostels will sell tickets or you can just wander thought the bar district and you will definitely meet someone selling tickets!Koh Tao Thailand Guide To Partying
