Tips You Should Know With Remote Working Jobs

  • Intentional Interaction

If you’re working in a team, it is highly possible that your hard work may go unnoticed.

It is easy to assume that you’re taking a nap after lunch or watching a movie during a meeting simply because all work is done through the screen.

Ask questions, get more research done, submit the task given before the stipulated deadline to show your credibility.

  • Time/Calendar Blocking

One of the greatest things about remote working jobs is that you can have multiple jobs at one time. That can be overwhelming and lead to stress.

Avoid this by being organized with all the jobs you have on your hand.

Time blocking is allocating certain hours of the day to one specific task. When you tackle one task at a time, you’ll be able to give your best work to the different clients that have employed your service.

This will ensure good feedback and if possible, recurring work that will sustain your income.

What You Should Be Aware Of With Remote Working Jobs

Build relationships

Working in the comfort of your home is certainly not the same as working in an office.

You will not be mingling with coworkers, grabbing lunches, or gossiping about the manager that gave you last-minute work to do.

So, you probably have to make some effort in getting to know your co-workers and building a good relationship with your teammates if that is something that is important to you.

Set boundaries

It is easy to be engulfed with remote working jobs and let it seep into all hours of your life without realizing it.

Set clear boundaries with your time and energy spent as there will be clients or customers that will ask for work during the weekends or late in the day. Work-life balance can dissipate easily when with these remote working jobs.

Be mindful of the task you’ve got to complete for the day, get it done, and take some time off. Separate the time for work and play to continue a sustainable and healthy work-life.

Payment

Receiving delayed payments for your services is unfortunately common in remote working jobs.

With that being said, some clients are upfront with their payment methods. Be firm with the rate you charge and with the way you deal with your services.

Ensure that payment terms are delivered in a clear and concise manner to your clients as a measure of respect for your time and effort to get the work done for them.

  1. This is a great list! I actually work remotely still for my company and it’s nice to have that flexibility! I think there will be a lot more remote jobs available even after the pandemic is over.

  2. Love all of these suggestions! I did a 90 Day VA course and loved it and found it to be so interesting and beneficial! Even though I don’t do VA work, it was all information I could apply to my blogging path!

  3. This is such a great resource! I work remotely (doing 4 and 7 – proofreading and writing, and soon to be dropshipping ;)) and it changed my life. Also, I had no idea Search Engine Evaluator was a thing!

You’re spot on about the boundaries part, after switching from a set schedule at my old desk job to a flexible freelance routine, it’s easy to get carried away with projects and blur the lines between work and time off. It’s one of my goals for 2021 to have a better work balance!

  4. Goodness there are sooo many ways to work remotely now!

To be honest, even “normal” jobs seem to be remote for the last year. My husband and I both have jobs tied to Vancouver, but we didn’t actually need to be in the city for the whole of the last year while we worked from home. If we had known at the start the pandemic would last a whole year, we’d’ve probably moved out to the mountains. 😀

It’ll be interesting to see if more people take these kind of remote working jobs after covid-19 is calmed down again…

  5. Thank you so much for this. It was very helpful and informative. Keep doing what you do, it really does make a difference.
