9 Best Coworking Spaces in Mexico City for Remote Workers

A trip to Mexico is always a great idea and an unforgettable experience. The culture, the art, and the nature of this beautiful country are worth your time and enthusiasm. If it’s your first time in the country, you’ll probably hit the Mexican capital first. There are so many things to do and sights to see, so if you need to work while you’re staying there, you might feel like you’re missing out.

The life of a digital nomad is fantastic, but it does have its bad days. In a place such as Mexico City, where there are so many distractions, how can you keep your focus on your work? Add to that the massive number of great places to stay in Mexico beyond just for coworking, and deciding where to head can be tricky.

You’ll be happy to know that if you’re searching for coworking spaces, Mexico City has about 120. How do you choose one that’s suitable to your needs and preferences? Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. Here are our nine best—and one worst—coworking spaces in Mexico City.

U-Co Roma Is Our Favorite Coworking Space in Mexico City

Source: U-Co

Located in the heart of the Roma part of the city, U-Co Roma combines beauty and convenience. Instead of wasting time commuting from a hostel in Mexico to your workplace, you can stay right here because it is both a coworking and a co-living space. Trust us, in a big area like Mexico City, this is a definite advantage.

U-Co is incredibly pretty, with gorgeous murals and a charming interior all around. For many, the visual aspect of a workspace can make or break their concentration. If you’re among them, there’s nothing to worry about—the space is elegant and appealing without feeling over the top.

There is no clutter, and it’s clean enough to pass any inspection. So, the neat freak in you will be satisfied and able to focus on your work.

If there is one thing that every digital nomad needs above all else, that’s a good internet connection which is why at U-Co, Wi-Fi is super-fast. So, you can rest assured that you’ll be able to work without a glitch.

If you’re at all invested in preserving the environment, you’ll love U-Co. The co-living space provides shampoo, conditioner, and soap in little refillable bottles, so there’s not much waste there, which is more than awesome. If you’re going green, this is the place to be.

The community is great, as well. Digital nomads comprise most of the crowd that gathers there, so you’ll have plenty of like-minded people to hang out with. Marco, the owner, is devoted to his business and the people who stay in U-Co, and he’s also super friendly and helpful.

There is a kitchen you can use, and it’s probably the area in which most of the new friendships are made. Plus, the coffee and tea are tasty, free, and unlimited.

Regus Is Our Least Favorite Coworking Space in Mexico City

Regus-Mexico

We thought that Regus was the least enjoyable coworking space in Mexico City. Admittedly, as it has about 20 locations around the city, it may seem quite convenient. It stands to reason that once you’ve paid for the membership, you’ll be able to work in all of them.

So why is it our least favorite? The main issues with Regus are:

  • High staff turnover
  • Non-transparent pricing
  • Non-existent community

It seems like every time we visit, a few members of the staff are new. This may not be a problem in itself, especially if you don’t particularly enjoy chatting or don’t tend to form a connection with the staff. Still, it means that the people who work there are always in a kind of training phase. This can make your experience there anything from slightly unpleasant to downright abysmal.

The issue with pricing is a far more severe one, though. In every location, they have a different set of prices for their services, and they’re only available on request. This practice is already annoying and makes them seem untrustworthy, but there’s more—you may pay for the full membership and yet not get access to all the locations. So, what’s the point of a monthly membership, then?

Even though the pricing is not transparent, one thing is—Regus is one of the more expensive coworking spaces on this list. Before you part with your pesos, make sure you’re getting your money’s worth.

A community doesn’t exist in Regus. If you’re an outgoing, friendly sort of person, you might make a friend or two but don’t count on the great nomad atmosphere in Regus.

There is high-speed Wi-Fi, so you don’t have to get too stressed out because of the bad connection. They provide ergonomic chairs but no standing desks or bean bags, which limits your options a little bit.

Pro Tip for Coworking Spaces Mexico City

Many of these coworking spaces offer a minimal range of seating options. In order to be productive, you need to be comfortable, so it’s always best to choose the shared office space that offers the seating option you like the best.

Still, if the only downside to a coworking space is the lack of seating options, that’s easily fixed — you can get a travel stand desk. They’re much lighter than the regular ones, and you can set them up in no time.

A travel stand desk gives you the option of standing up once you start feeling stiff and stretching a bit without having to stop working. It keeps your back in good shape, so if you don’t like sitting down for too long, you should give it a go.
